Shark Apex Vs. Shark Navigator Upright Vacuum (Differences): Shark has very capable upright vacuums, matching Dyson vacuums in power and cleaning ability. Both vacuums provide the suction and powered brushroll to clean carpets of dust, dirt and pet hair. Both are not lightweight vacuums, but heavy duty, high powered cleaning machines. All Shark uprights are Bagless, where you empty the dust bin into a trashcan, with some of the allergens getting into the air. Both models have a lift-away canister, swivel steering, and the latest Zero-M Anti-Hair Wrap Technology (to keep the brushroll clean).

The main differences between the Shark Apex AZ1002 and Shark Navigator ZU561 are: The Apex has a longer cord, while the Navigator has a larger dust bin. The Apex has DuoClean brushrolls (one hard and one soft) for carpets and hard floors, the Navigator has a regular brushroll. Only the Apex model has LED headlights to illuminate the floor while vacuuming. The Apex comes with an additional Powered Pet Tool to vacuum smaller areas such as stairs, upholstery, and car interiors. The Apex model is more expensive than the Navigator.

What makes Shark Unique- Main Differences: Shark vacuums use a Lift-Away system, where the vacuum can be lifted off the body. Traditional vacuums like Dyson use a wand +hose off the main body. Shark has LED headlights in most of its higher end uprights. The DuoClean system used on the NV803 and APEX models uses two brushrolls, one is a bristle brush to deep clean carpets, the other is a soft brushroll for larger particles and hard and hardwood floors.

Pet Tool

Bottom Line Shark Apex Vs. Navigator: Both the Shark Apex AZ1002 and Shark Navigator ZU561 are both capable and powerful vacuums. The Apex AZ1002 Zero-M with is designed for carpets, hard floors, and pets, and is more powerful with 1350 watts of power. The Duoclean on the Apex is more designed for multi-floor use with its twin brushrolls.

Only the Apex comes with the Powered Pet Tool for cleaning stairs, upholstery, and car interiors. Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology(tm) which traps 99.99% of dust inside the vacuum is installed on both vacuums. The Zero-M technology on both vacuums will help with those with pets, as it prevents hair from wrapping around the brushbar. The Apex has the edge on features and accessories, but is more expensive than the Navigator. The tools that come with each vacuum are different (see below).

Shark ZU561 Cleaning Tools: Duster Crevice Tool, Hair Removal Multi-Tool, Wide Upholstery Tool

Shark AZ1002 Cleaning Tools: 12″ Crevice Tool, Pet Multi-Tool and Deep-Cleaning Motorized Pet Tool.
