Dyson Ball Animal 2 Corded Vs. Dyson V10 Absolute Cordless (Differences): These two powerful vacuums from Dyson both provide the suction and a powered brushroll to clean carpets of dust, dirt and pet hair. Both come with tools to assist in cleaning smaller areas, such as upholstery, stairs, and car interiors. Both have Dyson’s high build quality and workmanship. Dyson has introduced us to high quality cordless vacuums, which truly do have the power of an upright.

The main differences between the Dyson Animal 2 and Dyson V10 Absolute: The main difference is that the Dyson V10 is cordless and Dyson Animal 2 is corded. The V10 Absolute is about 1/3 the weight of the Animal 2, but its dust bin size is much smaller, as would be expected. Both vacuums have strong suction, with the corded Animal 2 having 270 airwatts or suction Vs. 150 airwatts of the V10. The Animal 2 uses a traditional Hose + Wand for off floor cleaning. The Bottom Line: Dyson Animal 2 (corded) Vs. Dyson V10 Absolute (cordless) – Both vacuums are powerful cleaning machines. Both have the power to tackle pet hair, dust and dirt, with a motorized brushroll, which is great for carpets. For hard floors, the V10 absolute cordless wins, with its multi-floor motorized brushroll, and it comes with an extra fluffy hard floor tool as well.

Dyson V10 Absolute Pros Vs. Animal 2: The V10 is a cordless vacuum, so no tangling of cords or outlets to find. It is extremely lightweight (about 1/3 the weight of the Animal 2). The Absolute has floor tools that are better suited for hard floors, including the fluffy hard floor tool pictured on the left. The V10 Absolute comes with more cleaning tools. The pet tool is motorized for more power. The V10 has a very low profile and can easily fit under some of the lowest furniture. Vacuum can detach to a handheld with full power. The V10 has a 3-position suction switch on the motorized floor tool. The V10 also has 3 levels of power, the Animal 2 has one.

Dyson V10 Absolute Cons Vs. Animal 2: The V10 has a much smaller dust bin. Being battery powered has its time limitations vs. the corded Animal 2. The suction power is lower than the corded Dyson Animal 2, but still very powerful. The V10 pet tool has a traditional rotating brushroll, the Dyson Animal 2 has a “tangle-free” turbo pet tool with counter-rotating brushes.

Final Thoughts: Both vacuums are ideal for removing pet hair, as they have Dyson’s strong suction, capable brushrolls, and other tools to remove pet hair. Both machines have whole machine HEPA filtration, so you won’t be breathing in dust or allergens. The Brushroll can be turned off on the Dyson Animal 2, the V10 absolute uses a multi-floor brushroll designed for carpet & hard floors.

We have used both vacuums in an apartment setting, and have retired our corded vacuum in favor of the cordless. The V10 cleans and grooms the carpet like a full size upright. The V10 gets up to 60 minutes of cleaning time (less with motorized tools attached). We find it is liberating not having a cord, and the light weight, low profile, and detachable handheld make it fun to use in a variety of cleaning settings.
