Dyson Cinetic “Big Ball” Upright Vacuum (Similarities): These two powerful vacuums from Dyson both provide high suction and a powered brushroll to clean carpets of dirt, dust and pet hair. Both are not lightweight vacuums, but heavy duty, high powered cleaning machines. Both vacuums are made to tackle dirt, dust and pet hair. Both models come with a unique Tangle-Free Pet Tool, which is great for removing pet hair. Both upright vacuums use ball technology for easy steering around obstacles.

The main differences between the Dyson Animal 2 and Dyson Cinetic are: The main difference is that the Cinetic is designed to no longer need filters, as the cinetic tips in the vacuum remove all the dust and dirt. Having this feature does reduce the suction power on the Cinetic. The Animal 2 has more suction (270 Vs. 180 airwatts suction), and has the highest suction of any Dyson upright. The Cinetic model uses “Big Ball” while the Animal 2 uses regular “Ball” steering technology. The Big Ball is a little more bulky in our opinion. The Dyson Cinetic Animal is heavier by almost 2 lbs. The Bottom Line: Both vacuums are very capable on all floor types. Both have the power to tackle pet hair, dust and dirt, however the Dyson Animal 2 has the edge in suction power.

Dyson Cinetic Science: Eliminates the need for a filter, so no filters to clean or replace. Captures dust without clogging, so no loss of suction.

Both vacuums are ideal for removing pet hair, a capable brushroll, and other tools to remove pet hair. Both machines have whole machine HEPA filtration, so you won’t be breathing in dust or allergens. The Brushroll can be turned off on both vacuums for delicate rugs and hardwood floors. We believe the Dyson Animal 2 to be the better machine with more suction, lighter in weight, and uses the smaller “Ball” technology for easier maneuverability. The big ball also is taller than the regular ball, so will not fit under low furniture as well. The Cinetic’s only advantage is being filter free.
