Miele Alize Vs. Miele Calima Canister Vacuum (Differences): The Miele C3 Alize and Calima models are German engineered high end canister vacuums built to last. Both are bagged vacuums, that are primarily for hard floors and low carpets. Both come with a parquet hard floor brush with soft bristles. Both vacuums run quieter than competitor vacuums, as they are sound insulated.

The Alize and Calima also have an AirClean Sealed systems with an Active HEPA Filter to output cleaner air. Both use GN bags with 9 stages of filtration. Both have premium footswitch pedals to adjust suction.

The main differences between the Miele Alize and Miele Calima canisters are: The Complete C3 Alize has the SBD 285-3 Floor Tool which has pure suction (no brushroll), and the Calima has the STB205-3 Turbobrush which has an air driven brushroll, allowing it to vacuum hard floors and lower pile carpets. The Miele Alize has an Intelligent “Auto” Motor Power setting which will automatically adjust the power level depending on what surface you are on, and has an LED headlight in the handle. These are not in the Calima. The Calima though comes with an additional Parquet Twister hard floor tool with soft bristles. Cosmetically the Alize is Tan/Ivory in color and the Calima is Yellow. A green version of the Alize is also available. See the comparison chart below for key features.

Miele Calima

What makes Miele Unique- Main Differences: Miele vacuums have many high end features that many other vacuums don’t have, including Dyson. Multiple Suction Power Settings: This allows you to vacuum delicate areas with reduced suction. Quieter Vacuums: Miele vacuums are relatively quiet compared to other vacuums, and can be quieter when you turn down the power.

Miele uses stainless steel instead of cheaper materials like plastic or aluminum for its wands. Miele also uses rubber wheels, which will not mar or scratch hardwood floors. Many of the canisters come with a Parquet hardwood floor brush. Miele uses a sealed system and hygienically sealed multi-layer bags, so no dust goes in the air when vacuuming or when emptying the bag into the trash. Great for those with allergies. Miele tests its vacuums to last 20 years. Miele will far outlast cheaper vacuums.

Bottom Line: Miele Alize Vs. Calima – Both the Miele Alize and Calima are highly capable canister vacuums, manufactured with the highest quality components, which is why these models are pricey. The main difference is the floor tool, the additional intelligent “Auto” mode in the Alize, the LED headlight in the handle of the Alize, and the colors they come in. The Calima comes with an additional Parquet Twister, a soft bristled floor tool for hard floors. If you want a headlight in the handle and the “Auto” mode then go with the Alize (Auto mode automatically adjusts suction power over different surfaces). If you want a turbo brushroll (better for carpets), and the additional parquet twister floor tool, go with the Calima. The Alize SBD 285-3 AirTeq floor tool operates on pure suction (no brushroll), but can be upgraded if you buy the turbobrush floor tool. For colors, the Alize comes in dark Green, the Calima comes in Yellow. Both are suited for hard floors, and low carpets.
