The main differences between the Schwinn 130 and 170 are: The 170 model from a structural standpoint has a heavier flywheel, more resistance levels, Forearm pads, and oversized pedals. The Schwinn 170 has a superior 3 piece crank system (versus 1 piece on the 130). The seat on the 170 can move forward and back. On the computer console, the 170 has more workout programs, adds back-lighting to the LCD, and ads two more user profiles. The 170 also adds Bluetooth and Heart Telemetry. Schwinn 130 vs. 170 Console Comparison: The Consoles are similar, but the 170 is backlit, making it easier to read. Both are dual displays, so when you use the tablet/book holder, you can still see the other display. On the 170 you have 16 more workout programs.
The Schwinn 170 bike has 9 more resistance levels than the 130. You can customize your user profile, the 130 allows 2 profiles, while the 170 allows 4 profiles. Bluetooth with APP for your tablet or smartphone, Workout Fan & Speakers, and Wireless heart telemetry are only available on the Schwinn 170 Bike.
Bottom Line: The Schwinn 170 upright exercise bike offers a wide array of improvements over the 130 model, including more resistance levels, programs, and user profiles, and a backlit screen. You also get Bluetooth on the 170 with an APP, and wireless telemetry for an optional heart strap. Ergonomically, the 170 model has a superior 3 piece crank system, giving better clearance when riding. The 170 model also has a superior seat with additional padding, and added forearm pads on the handlebars. The seat on the 170 can move horizontally as well as vertically, the 130 can only move vertically. We feel that the Schwinn 170 is far superior in features as well as some structural additions, and offers the best value for the money. Both models are highly rated and economically priced.
