The main differences between the Samsung Q80A and Q80B are: The main difference between the Q80A (2021 model) and Q80B (2022 model) are slight. The Q80B Series provides 4 HDMI 2.1 ports which can support 4K@120hz, while the Q80A models only has one HDMI (supporting 2.1), the other 3 are HDMI 2.0b. Bluetooth on the Q80B Series has been upgraded to version 5.2 from version 4.2 on the Q80A TVs.
The operating system has been upgraded from Tizen 2021 to Tizen 2022. The remote controls are different as well, the TM2180E for the Q80B, and the TM2280E for the Q80B. Both are solar cell remotes (they charge themselves). The main diffence is the TM2280E remote has more dedicated buttons for streaming services. The Q80B has added a new feature called EyeComfort Mode which measures your room’s brightness and adjusts the TV’s contrast settings. What makes Samsung TVs Unique – Main Differences: Samsung produces 4K Ultra HD TVs with a technology called QLED which is quantum dot technology. This technology will make colors pop, with a brighter picture and is superior to its non QLED TVs.
Bottom Line Samsung Q80A Vs. Q80B : Both TVs have most of the same Smart TV features, such as built-in Wifi, access to APPs such as Netflix, Tizen OS, Bixby Voice Control, and can connect to Apple Airplay 2. Both have a full array backlight and superior HDR. Both the Q80A and Q80B have a 60 watt sound system which is well above the 20 watts on most TVs. The Bluetooth has been upgraded to version 5.2 on the Q80B models. All else being equal, we would consider getting the Q80A series if the price is substantially lower. If you need 4K120Hz (HDMI 2.1) on all four of the HDMI ports, then get the Q80B series, as the Samsung Q80A Series has one HDMI 2.1 port, the rest are 2.0b.
Bluetooth Version 5.2 features The Samsung Q80B Series has upgraded Bluetooth from version 4.2 to 5.2. This allows larger amounts of information to be transmitted over lower bandwidth and at lower power. Dual Audio feature allows you to connect to two different devices at the same time.
Motion Xcelerator Turbo+: This feature visually reduces the perception of residual images on the TV screen and makes the picture on the screen image appear better, without jittering. Standard on both models.
