The main differences between the Sony X800H and X900H are: The biggest difference is the backlight. The X800H has an edge lit backlight, while the X900H has a full array backlight for superior brightness uniformity, and superior HDR. Another difference is the refresh rate, and how the TVs handle motion (such as high speed sports). The X800H has a native 60Hz with Motion Rate 120 technology.
The superior X900H has a native 120Hz and Motion Clarity technology. The higher refresh rate on the Sony X900H will give you a sharper clearer picture when watching fast moving action (such as action movies & sports). What makes Sony TVs Unique – Main Differences: Sony produces 4K Ultra HD TVs with a Triluminous Panel. This technology will make colors pop, with a brighter picture and is superior to its non Triluminous TVs. Sony has an Android OS with over 5,000 APPs available. Apple Airplay 2 is built into most Sony TVs. Sony TVs with Full Array backlights (X900H and X950H) will give you a brighter more uniform picture and better HDR (High Dynamic Range).
Bottom Line Sony XBR X800H Vs. X900H : Both TVs have most of the same Smart TV features, such as built-in Wifi, access to APPs such as Netflix, Android OS, Voice Control & Alexa, and can connect to Apple Airplay. The X900H is more feature rich, especially for watching fast action, like sports. The X900H has Native 120Hz, and Motion Clarity that puts it a step up to the X800H in this regard. Another excellent feature is X-tended Dynamic Range 6x, on the X900H, which makes a big difference in picture quality (colors % brightness). The only factor in favor of the X800H is that it is much lower in price.
Sony XBR Common 4K TV Features:
Android OS: The Android OS has a built-in 16GB of memory for storing your installed APPs (5,000 to choose from ).
Google Assistant: Gives you voice control over your TV.
Apple® AirPlay® 2: Many of 2020 Sony TVs have Built-in Apple® AirPlay® 2 that allows for wireless streaming of content from your iPhone®, iPad®, or Mac®.
Triluminous Panel: TRILUMINOS is powered Sony’s X1 processors to reproduce more colors than a conventional television. It analyzes and processes images to make colors look even more natural and precise so pictures are closer than ever to real life.
4K X-Reality™ Pro: This technology upscales lower resolution images like Full HD into a sharper 4K resolution that your TV supports. This uses the Sony 4K HDR Processor X1.
Features only on the X900H Series:
Full Array Dimming = A full array TV, available on the X900H and X950H series gives you a backlight with LEDs arranged directly in back of the screen to turn on and off brightness more precisely than edge lit sets. You also benefit from a brighter picture where pictures pop more.
Nativ 120Hz with Motion Clarity = The Sony X900H has a superior 120Hz panel that can smooth out fast action such as from sports, and movies. With slower 60Hz panels, you can get more motion blur when viewing fast action.
X-tended Dynamic Range PRO™ 6x = The X900H has X-tended Dynamic Range Pro 6x, a technology that makes a dramatic difference in picture quality by adjusting brightness for higher peaks in glare and deeper blacks in shadow.
