Smart-Review Commentary: The Panasonic HC-X920 which we previewed at CES 2013 returns as a 2014 model. It has a large 3MOS System PRO sensor that is Backside illuminated which will reduce noise and improve low light capability when taking videos. With the fast F1.5 lens, and 5-Axis Hybrid Optical Stabilization, this is an ideal camcorder for low light and using the telephoto lens. The lens can shoot as high as 25x without degrading the video using its intelligent zoom feature. As with last year’s model this can shoot in 3D with the optional 3D lens. The X920 has a high resolution LCD with 1,150,000 pixels resolution. For sound it has noise suppression, an advanced electronic wind filter, and a 5.1 Channel Surround Sound Microphone. Its wide 29.8mm zoom lens is great for indoor and panorama shots. This camcorder is capable of recording Full HD 1080p at (60 frames/second) which is higher than most other camcorders we have reviewed to date. The 60 frames/second will give you smoother video, especially for fast moving action, like sports. Editing and viewing this video will require a fast computer. You can take a frame of the video and capture it later as a picture. The newest feature added is WiFi wireless connectivity (802.11b/g/n) , which enables Real Time Broadcasting of important events via Ustream, remotely control your camcorder with a smartphone or tablet, monitor your home with your camcorder, or share pictures or video on social media.

The Panasonic HC-X920 has a lot of manual control, including an external microphone jack, headphone jack, level controls, manual control including a ring that can control iris, shutter speed, and white balance. A rarely found feature is an electronic viewfinder (EVF) (easier to see than the LCD, when shooting in bright sunlight) The Panasonic HC-X920 is a Smart-Review top pick and one of our highest rated consumer models for 2013-2014.
