**New for 2009** Sony’s 32gb dual flash drive based high definition camcorder from Sony. Compact size. Records to the 32gb of internal memory or Memory Stick PRO Duo Media. 12x optical zoom. 12 megapixel still images, 3.0 inch touchscreen, built-in GPS to geotag your video or pictures. The HDR-CX500V has a Large 1/2.88-inch CMOS imager for better low light performance. Bionz image processor improves the speed and quality, as well as improving battery life. Smile Shutter technology lets the camcorder automatically take still photos when your subject smiles.

The CX500V uses the AVCHD compression format to record high definition video. Professional Carl Zeiss lens with Steadyshot 12x optical image stabilization.

Hookup to an HDTV through Component or HDMI. Dolby Digital 5.1 capable. Built-in Flash. USB 2.0 interface. Active interface accessory shoe for external microphones and lights. This camcorder has been designed for low light conditions using its large 1/2.88 Exmor CMOS imager. Reviews have confirmed that this camcorder indeed does perform well in low light. In addition you can take up to 12 megapixel still images and has a larger than average 3.0-inch LCD. Professional reviewers confirmed that this camcorder does well in both dark and light conditions, something rare for most consumer camcorders except some of our top-pick Canon camcorders. If you want more manual controls, then the Canon models may suit your needs better. For most non professionals, this camcorder will do very well.
