Samsung’s D8000 55-inch LED backlit HDTV (with micro dimming) is 3D ready and comes with 2 pairs of rechargeable 3D glasses. The new for 2011 Micro Dimming Plus LED backlight technology is an improvement to last year’s precision dimming. It uses special edge mounted LEDs to enable the controlled lighting of variable size areas. This provides for better picture and contrast whether watching 2D or 3D. 3D movies such as Avatar and other movies have created demand for 3D programming for HDTVs for the home. With this HDTV you can use the included 3D glasses with 3D Blu-ray players, and watch 3D specific programming as they come available on cable and satellite. Ultra Clear Panel eliminates reflections, boosts contrast ratio. Included on this TV is 240Hz anti-blur technology. 240HZ provides blur free, clear motion, quadrupling the framerate of regular 60hz HDTVs. 25,000,000:1 Mega Dynamic Contrast (highest we have reviewed) and triple last years model. This full HD 1080p HDTV has a super fast 2ms response time to help display fast moving action. DLNA CERTIFIED® connectivity lets you remotely access music, video, and photos. Smart-Review Commentary: For 2011, The UN8000 “D” Series is samsung’s second generation LED 3D TV and comes fully loaded. As with all 3D TVs, it can display regular HD (2D) or 3D programming. Improvements to last year’s model include a tripling of the contrast ratio (25,000,000:1), built in wifi (nothing to purchase), includes 2 pairs of 3D glasses, Remote control with keyboard, New Ultra Clear Panel, more USB ports, new Micro Dimming Plus backlight technology, and a smaller bezel making the TV almost all picture. Advanced features include 240hz anti blur technology, Samsung Apps to access popular internet services, and DLNA certified (to access content from your computer). With 3D capability, you will be ready for the upcoming wave of 3D content. In the near future more 3D programming will be available from cable TV, satellite, and blu-ray discs. This TV will allow you to view this content when programming is available. A 3D TV works by sending infrared signals from the TV to the 3D glasses which then synchronize with the TV to produce the 3D effect. The D8000 Series appear to be one of the best entries for 2011.
