New for 2010. Introducing the first 3D capable LED backlit TVs from Samsung. The Samsung 55-inch LED backlit HDTV (with precision dimming) is now 3D ready. Samsung’s Precision Dimming technology uses special edge mounted LEDs to enable the controlled lighting of variable size, diamond-shaped areas which effectively provides local dimming. 3D movies such as Avatar have created demand for 3D programming for HDTVs. With this HDTV you can add 3D Glasses, 3D Blu-ray players, and watch 3D specific programming as they come available on cable and satellite. (3D programming is expected to hit in mid-2010). Included on this TV is 240Hz anti-blur technology. 240HZ provides blur free, clear motion, quadrupling the framerate of regular 60hz HDTVs. 8,000,000:1 Mega Dynamic Contrast (one of the highest we have reviewed). This full HD 1080p HDTV has a super fast 2ms response time to help display fast moving action. DLNA CERTIFIED® connectivity lets you remotely access music, video, and photos. The 1080p display has over two million pixel resolution, along with an SRS TruSurround HD sound system.

Internet ready TV: with Internet@TV widgets (broadband service required) will give you access to Netflix (with subscription), Youtube, Facebook, Blockbuster, Flickr, Ebay, and more. Just plug in an ethernet cable, or get the optional wireless wifi device.

The UN55C8000 can display lifelike 3D images when viewed with Samsung’s shutter glasses (sold separately). Can Convert 2D movies, sports and shows to 3D. Smart-Review Commentary: For 2010, The UN8000 “C” Series provides an excellent 240hz LED TV with precision dimming which provides the one of the highest contrast ratios (8,000,000 to 1) that we have reviewed. With Samsung’s addition of 3D ready capability, you will be ready for the upcoming wave of 3D content. In the near future 3D programming will be available from DIRECTV, ESPN 3D, and others. Sony has announced 3D blu-ray disks to be released this summer. This TV will allow you to view this content when programming is available. 3D TV works by sending infrared signals to the 3D glasses which then synchronize with the TV to produce the 3D effect. We will post accessories for this TV as as become available, such as 3D blu-ray players, and the 3D glasses. The 8000C Series are Internet Ready TVs and can access the most popular internet content including Youtube, Facebook, and Netflix. This TV provides a nice upgrade from last year’s UN8000 “B” series.
