The compact and powerful Nikon D90 DX SLR is the replacement for the popular D80. With its DX imager, it is capable of 12.3 megapixel images. Some of the upgrades from the D90 model include, a 720p HD movie mode, Live View, a boost in ISO to 3200, and a larger high resolution LCD Screen. Live View allows you to compose your pictures and movies by using the 3.0-inch LCD screen (920,000 pixels). 4.0 fps continuous shooting, Ultrasonic Dust Removal System removes dust from the sensor automatically. Active D-Lighting function which can vastly improve shadows and highlights of high-contrast scenes. D-Movie Mode with sound; record 720p HD movie clips (at 24fps). 19 Auto-exposure Scene Modes. Includes the 18-105mm optical image stabilized (VR) Lens.

Smart-Review Commentary: Nikon’s low cost compact D90 DX is one of Nikon’s best selling SLRs. It is designed for simplicity of use. It has received excellent consumer and professional reviews for its price range. It is the next model up from the D5000, and we believe worth the extra money. The D90 has Live View, a 720p HD Movie mode, Higher ISO, and a high resolution 3-inch LCD. The D90 also has some of the newer features seen on recent DSLRs such as Ultrasonic sensor cleaning, and Live View. You may also want to look at the replacement for the D90, the Nikon D7000 DSLR which was recently introduced with many upgrade features.
