*New for 2010. The Canon Rebel T2i (550d) is the latest low cost SLR from Canon which shares many of the features of the more expensive EOS 7D. The T2i is the follow on to the popular Rebel T1i. Upgraded to a full 18.0 megapixels. New HD movie mode can shoot Full HD Video at faster frame rates 1080p @30fps or 24fps and 720p @60fps with manual exposure. HDMI port to hookup to an HDTV. External Microphone Jack. Includes many features formerly reserved for Canon’s top SLRs. Large high resolution 3-inch LCD screen (1,040,000 pixels). 3.7 fps continuous shooting, See the image in the large LCD with the Live View Function for composition of both pictures and video. Smart-Review Commentary: For 2010, Canon has a huge hit with the Canon EOS Rebel T2i. It has many of the features of the EOS 7D. Outstanding consumer and professional reviews. This camera has many features that previously were only included on high end SLRs. The HD movie capture has improved dramatically and now supports Full 1080p HD at 30 frames/second (blu-ray quality). It can also capture at 24p (film speed). Also new is an external microphone jack which the previous model T1i did not include. This is critical to get the best sound when using the HD Movie Mode. Not only does this camera have more megapixels (18.0), but the light sensitivity has improved with an ISO up to 6400. The T2i also includes some of the most popular features such as, Ultrasonic Sensor cleaning, LiveView which allows you to use your LCD screen to compose your shot instead of the viewfinder. We also like the addition of a dedicated live view/video button. We believe that this camera for the money is a best buy for digital SLRs.
