600Hz Subfield = Plasma TVs utilize a 600Hz refresh rate which can virtually eliminate motion blur for viewing action sports, movies, and video games. 1080p = (1920×1080) with about 2 million pixels resolution (Maximum Blu-ray quality). This is the most popular type of TV. 720p = (1366×768) with about 1 million pixels resolution. This is lower resolution than 1080p (about half the pixels). Usually seen on smaller HDTVs. Energy Star® 4.0 = Earning the ENERGY STAR means a product meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. For TVs, it means they save energy both in standby and active (when they’re on) modes. ENERGY STAR qualified TVs use about 30 percent less energy than standard units. Energy Star 4 is the latest guidline. Contrast = refers to dynamic contrast. Higher is better. More contrast allows more shadow details in the picture. Internet Ready = This means that this TV can give you content from the internet. Content varies with the manufacturer. This TV will provide an ethernet port to connect an ethernet cable. Or you can buy an optional Wifi USB plugin device to send the internet wirelessly to your TV. Popular content includes Netflix, Youtube, Skype, News, Weather, and more… 3D and 3D Ready = This means that this TV is capable of displaying 3D content from broadcast and 3D capable Blu-ray players. This TV has a built in emitter can communicate with 3D glasses to synchronize with the picture displayed on the TV. DLNA = DLNA lets you remotely access your PC’s personal media so that you can download music, video, and photos and enjoy them anywhere in the home your TV is. DLNA stands for Digital Living Network Alliance and is a collaboration of the leading consumer electronics, PC and mobile companies that has created design guidelines for a new generation of products that can work together – no matter what the brand. SD Card Slot = This TV has an SD/SDHC card slot to put in memory cards from your camera or camcorder to view pictures and video on your TV. HDMI = HDMI inputs allow you to connect devices to your HDTV such as DVD and Blu-ray players and game consoles.
